8 terms commonly used in textile fabric style

1、 Stiffness

When touching the fabric, you can feel the rigidity, the reaction force of the opponent and the feeling of elasticity and fullness. For example, the feel of high density fabrics made of elastic fibers and yarns. In order to make the fabric stiff, we should choose coarser fiber, increase fiber modulus, increase yarn tightness and weaving density.

2、 Softness

Softness refers to the soft, light, fluffy, smooth and waxy feeling, as well as the weak hand feeling of stiffness, flattening and smoothness. The fabric has a soft feeling, which can improve the fluffy degree of the yarn. The thinner yarn is selected, and the weaving density cannot be too high.

3、 Fullness

The fabric has good fluffy property, giving people a feeling of looseness and fullness. Compression rebound, give people a warm and thick feeling.

4、 Compliance

The ability to follow the soft deformation of body surfaces.

5、 Smoothness

It comes from the handle of coarse hard fiber or strong twist yarn, mainly the surface handle of the fabric, and the overall rigidity of the fabric can enhance it. Smooth feeling can be achieved by twisting and using fibers with grooves or uneven surfaces.

6、 Smoothness

The soft, smooth feel of fine wool, such as that of cashmere. The smoothness is opposite to the smoothness, which requires that the fiber on the surface of the fabric is thin and distributed on the surface of the fabric in the form of wool roll or hairiness. There was a positive correlation between waxiness and fluffy fullness.

7、 Flattening degree

Fabric anti drape, its own ability to stretch into a flat surface, has nothing to do with elasticity. This kind of performance characteristics will be produced by selecting stiffer fibers and yarns and increasing weaving density.

8、 Drape

Drape refers to the performance of the fabric which naturally sags to form a curved surface under the action of its own weight. If the fabric can be sagged into a smooth, uniform curvature or even ripple surface, the fabric is said to have good drape.
