Sewing thread refers to the thread used to sew textile materials, plastics, leather products and sew books and periodicals. Sewing thread has the characteristics of seamability, durability and appearance quality.
Sewing thread can be divided into several type according to different materials.
Usage: Knitting
Carding process: Combing
Twist: Neutral
Yarn Form: Bobbin yarn
Structure: Strand
Spinning process: Air spinning
Quality Grade: Excellent products
Common types of sewing thread
1. Cotton sewing thread
Cotton yarn thread has good strength, dimensional stability and heat resistance. It is suitable for high-speed sewing and durability pressing, but its elasticity and wear resistance are slightly poor. In addition to ordinary soft cotton yarn thread, it also includes the wax light after sizing, waxing and mercerizing.
Wax light has smooth, rigid surface, stable twist, improved strength and wear resistance, which can reduce friction resistance in sewing.
It is suitable for stiff fabrics, leather fabrics or clothes that need high temperature ironing. The silk yarn thread is soft in texture, full in appearance, lustrous in luster, and has improved in strength. It has a smooth handle and is mostly used for sewing middle and high-grade cotton products.
2. Silk sewing thread
Silk yarn thread has excellent luster, soft handle and smooth surface, so the stitching is smooth and heat resistance is better. Its strength and elasticity are better than cotton yarn thread.
Silk thread can be filament or silk thread, usually used to sew high-grade products such as silk garments, wool garments, leather garments, etc.
Coarse silk thread is used to sew wool garments, lock holes, nails, especially suitable for bright thread; fine silk thread is often used to sew silk satin thin material.
Due to the disadvantages of silk suture, such as high price, easy wear and tear in use and easy falling off on the winding barrel, silk thread has been gradually replaced by polyester filament thread except for silk and some high-grade garments.
3. Polyester sewing thread
Polyester yarn thread is widely used in the garment sewing of cotton, chemical fibers and blended fabrics because of its high strength, good wear resistance, low shrinkage, good moisture absorption and heat resistance, corrosion resistance, non-mildew and moth resistance.
In addition, it has the characteristics of complete color, good color fastness, non-fading, non-fading, sun resistance and so on.
Due to the abundant raw materials, relatively low price and good seamability of polyester, polyester sewing thread has played a leading role in sewing thread.
Polyester yarn thread includes filament, staple and low elasticity polyester yarn thread.
Among them, polyester staple fibers are mainly used to sew various kinds of cotton, polyester cotton, pure wool and their blended fabrics, and are currently widely used as a sewing thread.
Polyester low elastic yarn thread is often used in knitted garments, such as sports wear, underwear and tights.
In addition, the sewing thread made of polyester and silk mixed fibers is called polyester filament. Because it is superior to pure polyester filament in flexibility, gloss and toughness, it is widely used in the sewing of ultra-thin fabrics.
4. Nylon sewing thread
Nylon yarn thread has good abrasion resistance, high strength, bright luster and good elasticity.
It is often used on stronger fabrics.
Because of its poor heat resistance, it is not suitable for high-speed sewing and high-temperature ironing fabrics.
Nylon sewing thread can be divided into filament thread, staple fiber thread and elastic deformation thread.
Nylon filament thread is suitable for sewing chemical fiber clothing and various clothing processes such as buttons and buttonholes.
In addition, nylon single-filament transparent sewing thread is suitable for the edge-knitting process, such as trousers, cuffs and buttons, and can also be used for decoration, such as waistband buttons in women's clothing, open thread decoration at the cuffs and hems of Chinese-style clothing.
5. Blended sewing thread
Blended sewing yarn thread is mainly polyester cotton blended yarn and core-spun yarn thread.
It is a kind of sewing yarn thread with many specifications and wide application scope, and has potential application.
Polyester/cotton yarn thread is made of 65% polyester staple fiber and 35% high-quality cotton.
The strength, wear resistance and heat resistance of the yarn are good, and the yarn thread is soft and elastic.
It is suitable for sewing and EDGE-BINDING of various cotton, chemical and knitted fabrics. Core-spun yarn thread is a new type of sewing yarn thread.
It is usually made of synthetic filament (polyester) as core yarn thread and natural fibre (cotton) as cover yarn thread.
This kind of yarn thread has the dual characteristics of cotton and polyester due to its high strength, soft, elasticity and small shrinkage.
It is suitable for high speed sewing of high-grade garments and medium-thick fabrics.
6. Decorative sewing thread
In order to emphasize the shape and threads, many clothes are often decorated with decorative lines, such as leather and jeans, bright threads and embroidery.
Silk decoration line is characterized by bright color, elegant and soft color; rayon decoration line is made of viscose fibers, although gloss and feel have good effect, but in strength is slightly inferior to silk thread.
In addition, more and more attention has been paid to the decorative effect of gold and silver thread.
Gold and silver thread, also known as craft decoration thread is used for Chinese clothing and fashion thread and partial pattern decoration.
