In April, more measures will be taken to stabilize China's foreign trade
In the first four months of this year, China's total import and export value of goods trade reached 9.07 trillion yuan, down 4.9% from the same period last year, and 1.5% lower than the first quarter, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs on July 7. Among them, the export in April was 1.41 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.2% from a year-on-year decrease of 3.5% in March. On the same day, the Ministry of Commerce said it would also launch multiple measures to increase foreign trade and stabilize foreign trade in terms of precise assistance to enterprises, support of export to domestic sales, and stable and smooth international logistics.
According to reports, while the total volume of imports and exports has risen steadily, China's foreign trade has also shown many bright spots in the structure. From the perspective of trade mode, the proportion of import and export of general trade has increased. In the first four months, China's general trade import and export reached 5.43 trillion yuan, down 4.6%, accounting for 59.8% of China's total foreign trade value, up 0.2 percentage points over the same period last year. In the same period, the import and export of processing trade reached 2.18 trillion yuan, down 8.4%.
From the perspective of one partner, China's one ASEAN and one belt, one road, has grown in an opposite direction. The data shows that in the first four months, ASEAN was my largest trading partner, with a total value of 1.35 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.7%, accounting for 14.9% of China's total foreign trade. For one belt, one road, I added 2 trillion and 760 billion yuan to the total number of imports and exports, an increase of 0.9%, accounting for 30.4% of the total value of our foreign trade and a 1.7 percentage point increase in the proportion.
From the perspective of trade subjects, the import and export of private enterprises increased and their proportion increased. In the first four months, the import and export of private enterprises reached 3.92 trillion yuan, an increase of 0.5%, accounting for 43.2% of China's total foreign trade value, an increase of 2.3 percentage points over the same period last year.
In addition, in terms of main products, the export of mechanical and electrical products and clothing decreased, while the export of textiles increased. Imports of iron ore, crude oil, coal, natural gas, soybeans and other commodities increased, while the average import price of bulk commodities rose and fell.
It is generally believed that the global spread of the epidemic has an impact on the pattern of foreign trade. ASEAN and other regions which are less affected by the epidemic have a rapid growth in import and export, which is the main region to promote the export growth of China. However, the impact of weakening global demand on exports is likely to show, and the possibility of export decline in the future is greater.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce Gao Feng pointed out that although the decline in foreign trade data in April narrowed, the development of foreign trade still faced great downward pressure. "According to the recent investigation conducted by the Ministry of Commerce on key provinces and cities, import and export chambers of Commerce and key enterprises, foreign trade enterprises still face many difficulties, such as cancellation or postponement of orders in hand, difficulty in signing new orders, and poor logistics."
Gao said that we should fully estimate the difficulties, risks and uncertainties of the epidemic, earnestly enhance the sense of urgency and further stabilize foreign trade. Next, the Ministry of Commerce will, in accordance with the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, give play to the role of foreign trade and foreign investment coordination mechanism, focus on supporting enterprises to explore international markets, help enterprises better complete orders in hand, obtain new orders, and cope with the impact of the international epidemic.
